A fenced inclusive playground at the southern end of Newport Beach, with a wheelchair-friendly carousel, BBQs and shade.
Bert Payne Park's playground was designed so kids of all abilities can play on the same equipment. A carousel takes children with and without wheelchairs, the trampoline sits at ground level, and a ramp leads to the top of the climbing platform.
It's fully fenced, sits next to the beach and surf club at the southern end of Newport, and comes with BBQs, shade cloths and public toilets. Local parents and the disability support organisation Northern Beaches Interchange helped shape the design.
It suits a long beach day: swim, play, then fire up the BBQ. Parking is plentiful, but summer weekends still get busy.
