What makes this place truly extraordinary isn’t just its location, though the ocean views and native gardens certainly help. It’s the way AYAH blends world-class clinical care with a sense of home, offering respite, support, and dignity not just to patients, but to their families too.
The space has been thoughtfully designed with eight private rooms, family accommodation, therapy spaces, and warm communal areas that invite connection or calm depending on the day.
Run by Northern Sydney Local Health District, AYAH fills a much-needed gap between paediatric and adult palliative care. It’s a space where young people can continue to live as fully as possible, surrounded by a team of expert doctors, nurses, psychologists, music and art therapists.
But none of this could exist without the strength of its community.
Local MP James Griffin has championed the hospice from day one, calling it a “once-in-a-generation” project and backing it all the way to reality.
REVELOP, owners of Balgowlah Village, have also shown support for the hospice and its fundraising efforts, with all proceeds from previous Christmas wrapping gold coin donations going directly to this deserving cause.
REVELOP is committed to finding new and meaningful ways to support AYAH into the future. We’ll keep you updated on upcoming initiatives so you and your local shopping centre can continue to play a part in this vital cause.
“At the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice in Manly, the support of our community is not just appreciated, it is essential. Every gesture, donation, and act of kindness helps create a space where young people facing life-limiting illness can find dignity, comfort, and a sense of belonging,” Tayia Yeates, Centre Manager AYAH.
This is more than a hospice. It’s a deeply human project built from compassion, courage, and care, and every gesture of support helps it continue to thrive so please help where you can.
“Words will never truly capture the depth of gratitude and respect we hold for each and every one of you who cared for A in his final weeks. Your compassion, dedication, and tenderness not only gave A the dignity he deserved, but also carried us; his family through the hardest days with so much grace. You made us feel held, seen, and supported in ways we will never forget.” — From the Family of a Young Patient.
How can you help?
Care like this doesn’t stop at the bedside. Many of AYAH’s most special touches, from catered meals to therapeutic outings, even the simple joy of a birthday cake, are made possible through community donations and partnerships.
Whether it’s a business offering vouchers, a neighbour running a fundraiser, or someone giving what they can, it all counts.
