Sparks over the water. A crowd counting down. Kids up well past bedtime. New Year’s Eve on the Beaches is shaping up as a big one, with celebrations planned at four locations to welcome 2027 on Thursday 31 December.
Sky’s the Limit
Fireworks will light up the night at Frenchs Forest Showground, Manly Cove and Bayview, each with family-friendly events to fill the hours before midnight. Whether you’re after harbour views or a bushland backdrop, there’s a spot with your name on it.
Dee Why Changes Its Tune
This year Dee Why Beach swaps fireworks for family-themed entertainment and activities. The reason is practical: Council couldn’t find a supplier able to meet the complex requirements for safely delivering an offshore display. Fireworks at Dee Why need a barge out at sea, plus the right swell and wind on the night, and that combination has proven tough. The Dee Why display has been cancelled four times in the last seven years.
Mayor Sue Heins said the Beaches is a wonderful place to celebrate.
“New Year’s Eve is all about bringing our community together, and we’re excited to be celebrating across 4 fantastic locations this year. We look forward to seeing our community out celebrating a safe and memorable New Year’s Eve.”
Plan Ahead, Party Safe
Council is urging everyone to plan ahead, use public transport and check event information closer to the date for the latest on viewing areas, road closures and safety arrangements. Full details will be released on Council’s website in the coming months.
