‍A heartfelt night at Harbord Hotel supporting Olive & Kin

On Thursday 19 March 2026, a special evening of connection and generosity comes to Freshwater as Olive & Kin hosts its official launch celebration, Light & Community.

Held at Harbord Hotel from 6.30pm, the event marks an important milestone for the charity, which became a registered organisation last year. Designed as a welcoming and uplifting night, guests can expect food and drinks, curated gift bags, a silent auction, raffle prizes and meaningful community storytelling, all in support of families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.

Tickets are $120, with funds raised helping Olive & Kin continue providing handcrafted, personalised ceramic urns free of charge to families across Australia.

From personal loss to national support

Olive & Kin was founded by Hannah Fitzpatrick after the loss of her daughter, Olive. Unable to find an urn that felt personal and thoughtfully made, Hannah began creating her own. What started as a deeply personal act has grown into a nationwide charity that has now provided more than 200 urns to families.

Each urn is handcrafted with care, personalised with the option of a baby’s name imprinted into the lid, and delivered Australia-wide. Every piece is offered with dignity, compassion and quiet support during one of life’s most difficult moments.

As Hannah shares, the evening is both a celebration and a fundraiser.

“We wanted something to mark the milestone of becoming a registered charity last year, something for people to come together and celebrate, and have teamed it with an opportunity to fundraise.”

An evening for the wider community

The night will be MC’d by Sally Douglas, co-founder of Good Mourning, and around 200 guests are expected, including supporters, donors, local businesses and aligned organisations. The event is open to all community members aged 18 and over.

Olive & Kin is also calling on local businesses and supporters to contribute to the raffle and silent auction, with goods, services, vouchers or experiences welcome. The fundraising goal for the evening is $10,000.

Light & Community is about showing up, standing together and honouring lives gone too soon, while helping ensure no family faces loss without care and support.
