RMYC: One Hundred Years. One Big Year.

If you have been watching the transformation of Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay unfold over the past year, the wait is almost over. The scaffolding is coming down, the views are even better than before, and 2026 is shaping up to be the most memorable year in the Club's 100-year history. And yes, you are going to want to be there for it.

Worth the Wait

Good things take time. And after watching this transformation unfold from the outside, the wait is finally over. Well, nearly. If the rumours from members who have had a preview tour are anything to go by, what has been built here is something genuinely special.

The newly renovated RMYC Broken Bay opens officially on 9 May 2026, and the transformation is everything the Club promised and then some.

A modernised waterfront rooftop and dining areas with those sweeping Pittwater views. A resort-style pool, new lounge, function rooms and a kids' playground.

A fresh, accessible, light-filled space that feels brand new while still feeling like the Club you have always loved. The bones are the same. Everything else has had a serious glow-up.

Hello (New) Wellness Centre

Among everything the new build will deliver, the Wellness Centre might just be the most exciting addition. A space designed to bring together exercise, recovery and lifestyle, all in one place.

The space includes a fully equipped gym floor, yoga and Pilates studio, treatment rooms for massage and physiotherapy, a sauna, group fitness classes and private coaching. Whether you are working on strength, rebuilding fitness or simply looking for somewhere to unwind, there is something here for every stage of the journey.

Leading the centre is Bret MacPherson, a fitness industry veteran with more than 27 years of experience and a philosophy that will resonate with pretty much everyone on the Beaches: exercise should enhance your life, not be your life.

And the best part? It's right here at the Club, harbour view included. When you're done, the bar is right there. Honestly, what's not to love?

Wellness Centre memberships are available separately. Get in touch with the Club directly to find out more and secure your spot.

A Centenary Worth Celebrating

The renovation is only part of the story this year. RMYC Broken Bay turns 100 in 2026, and the Club is not letting that slide past quietly.

It is a remarkable run. What began as a branch of the Motor Yacht Club of NSW at Rose Bay was purchased in 1927 at Horseshoe Cove, Newport, the very site the Club still calls home today.

The official opening of that first clubhouse, boat shed, wharf and slipway took place on 17 March 1928, and the rest, as they say, is Pittwater history. Through fires, two World Wars, boating booms and decade after decade of improvement and growth, the Club has remained a constant on the waterfront, and a cornerstone of life on the Beaches.

Now, a century on, that history is being celebrated in style. And what a year to do it.

The Official Opening on 9 May kicks things off, followed by the Centenary Ball on 25 July, a glamorous evening of live music, cherished memories and celebration with members past and present. Clear your calendar now, because this one will sell out fast.

Then on 10 October, a spectacular Boat Parade sets sail from RMYC Rose Bay, a flotilla making its way up to Broken Bay in tribute to the Club's origins. Every vessel a story. Every crew a part of something bigger.

On the water, in good company, under an October sky. One hundred years doesn't look too bad at all. Not bad at all.
