A new creative market is making its Sydney debut, and it’s landing right on the Beaches.
On Saturday 2 May, the first Sydney edition of The Great Artist Market arrives at Manly Wharf, transforming the waterfront into a one-day showcase of local talent, independent makers and original work.
Held at Felons Barrel Room Manly, the market brings together more than 40 artists and creatives from across Greater Sydney and the Northern Beaches. It’s a curated mix of emerging names and established makers, spanning everything from contemporary art and ceramics to fashion, homewares and design objects.
The lineup reflects a strong cross-section of styles and disciplines. Visitors can expect vibrant, expressive works from Amy Blue, nostalgic, coastal-inspired pieces by Daniel Stelmaszak, and bold figurative painting from Em Hatton.
There’s also a mix of playful and functional design, including ceramics by Maggie James and Will Schubert, handcrafted objects from Jem Nockles, and light-catching glass works by Suzan Dursun.
The broader market extends well beyond these names, with stalls covering illustration, jewellery, textiles and small-batch creations. It’s an opportunity to meet the makers, hear the stories behind the work, and take home something genuinely original.
Co-founder and Felons Brand Director Dean Romeo says the response from the creative community has been strong, with the final lineup reflecting both quality and diversity. The focus is on creating a space where artists and visitors can connect in a more personal, real-world way.
Running from 8am to 3pm, the market is free to attend and designed to be family-friendly. Alongside the stalls, there’ll be food, drinks and live entertainment, making it an easy way to spend a morning or afternoon by the water.
Set against the backdrop of Manly Wharf, The Great Artist Market is a welcome addition to Sydney’s cultural calendar, and a strong introduction to what could become a regular fixture on the Northern Beaches.
