Wolfmother and Yothu Yindi Headline Aloha Festival at Dee Why

Dee Why Beach is about to get loud.

Wolfmother, Ball Park Music and very special guests Yothu Yindi will headline Aloha Festival, a brand-new all-ages surf, music and culture festival landing at Dee Why Beach on Saturday 6 March 2027. With room for up to 15,000 people, it’s shaping up as the biggest music festival the Beaches has ever hosted.

Dune Rats, The Terrys, The Beautiful Girls, Mid Drift and The Beefs round out the bill, mixing festival favourites, indie-rock heavyweights and rising local talent into one long day of live Australian music.

Reel Talk Between Sets

Here’s the twist. Between bands, the world’s best surf films will play on the main stage, curated by the Australian Surf Film Festival, with the Dee Why coastline as the backdrop. It’s a first for any Australian festival.

The program includes a John Florence Hawaiian exclusive; Jack Johnson’s The September Sessions, remastered in 4K for its 25th anniversary; Stacy Peralta’s The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez; and George Greenough’s 1971 classic Echoes, with the first footage ever shot inside the barrel and a soundtrack produced by Pink Floyd. Beaches legend and two-time world champion Tom Carroll stars in a 4K remaster of Paul Witzig’s All Down the Line, while Ritualistic Tendencies brings Harry Bryant, Noa Deane, Mikey Wright and Mason Ho. Long Reef’s own Kobi Clements stars in Unwritten, directed by Joel Barker.

A Festival With Purpose

Founder and Long Reef local Luke Campbell built Aloha as a gathering point for a community that has been through a tough stretch.

“Our community has been rocked in recent times, and we want to create an event where everyone from five-year-olds to 85-year-olds can come together, connect and share the spirit of Aloha,” he says.

Shark education and ocean safety sit at the centre of the day, with DPIRD, SharkSmart, Surf Life Saving NSW and Surfing NSW on board. Gotcha4Life and Blue Minds will run a health and wellness zone with yoga, massage and ice baths. Ocean Lovers Festival, Surfers for Climate and Take 3 for the Sea will lead dune restoration and microplastic projects, and Return and Earn recycling proceeds will go to the festival’s charity partners.

The Bush to Beach initiative will give First Nations young people the chance to attend their first festival and meet Yothu Yindi. A Duke Kahanamoku Hawaiian Celebration will honour the waterman who introduced surfing to Australia at Freshwater in 1914, then showed off his skills at Dee Why the very next day.

Something for Everyone

There’s plenty beyond the stage: athlete signings, live tattooing, a Market Village, a boutique food and wine VIP experience, and a Kids Funland with a Ferris wheel. Feeling lucky? Sink a hole-in-one on the Golf Daze simulator for a shot at $50,000.

Presented by Perfect Wave Travel, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2027, Aloha’s major partners include the NSW Government through Sound NSW, Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaiʻi Tourism, Harbord Diggers, Music in Paradise and IGA.
